Making router table fence. The lift extends 15-34 below the surface of the table. Position the fence on the router table so the guides line up with the router bit drill a 14 hole in the center of the slots through the top of the router table insert a 14 x 2 carriage bolt at each end with a flat washer and wing nut. To countersink the router lift I used a flush trim bit with a top bearing that will ride along a fence.
One for use with a 4 dust collection hose from below and the other to use with a shopvac hose attached to the fence. The fact that the aluminum has been anodized prevents it from leaving black marks on wood. The routing required to make the fence is simple.
Straight bit see Sources page 91. For the router fence parts I ordered pieces of anodized strut profile 15120 slot 8 in the following dimensions. I cut out the inner box using my jigsaw.
I fist made relief holes with a drill to make the corners easier to cut. To mount the router table fence to the router table I placed it on the table with a router bit centered between the split fence moved the table saws fence in to align it front to back and then drilled a 14 hole in the router table in the middle of each base slot. This is a great feature but for simplicity you can build a solid fence with a small cutout for the router bit.
A straight board clamped to the table is all it takesYou dont need to have a good router table fence already in order to make one. I set the bit to the right depth then went around in a clockwise direction. Cut the board in half to make a base and rail on a plank of MDF.
